Parents can scare their kids into being good with tales of ol Bill, the rogue cop in the seventies of whom-legends-are-still-told. Out-of-county sheriffs look for big-time in September, cross-examining kids who, on the dusty road from school, argue the best way to dig soaproot or fish bass. These hills, riddled with a few small patches, hide quail and the next land payment. So what.

(its no longer peaceful like this. In the late 80s the Mafia moved in & planted huge farms ,letting the land foreclose after they tore it up ugly & unecological, taking the big bucks out of county. 70s mom & pop grows kept the money in county and beautified the land while educating kids in small one room schools. It became a tragedy and still is. Greed is ugly.)
