Power saver Resembles a mosquito replellent plug-in gadget.

It saves electrical power and improves the quality of input electrical signals and therefore enhances the life span of electrical appliances. How do they work?? 1. Based on principles of Power Factor Correction, Harmonic Current filte and surge protection. 2. PFC helps reducing the reactive power loss and harmonic reduction improves the quality of power signal 3. Surges may case heatng and damage to the household devices. Improved quality signal prevents damage to the transmission line. The circuit of power saver is designed to prevent heat loss by appliances. Whats inside a power saver?? 1. A big PFC Capacitor and a current harmonic filter crcuit. 2. May also contain metal oxide varistors (MOVs) that act as transient suppressors and protect the circuits from voltage spikes. 3. Series connected thermal fuse is used with the MOVs to provide protection in event of short circuit. 4. They come with integrated voltage stabilization circuits too. 5. A LED is used to indicate a power on condition Can be used anywhere. They say It saves 30 to 40% but actuallCan be used anywhere. They say It saves 30 to 40% but actuall it only saves 5 to 10%. Parameters in which power saving depends: 1. Older the wiring, higher the leakage chances, more the power saving. 2. More the inductive appliances, more the power saving. 3. Older the appliances, more the heat loss, more the power saving efficiency 4. Areas with high voltage fluctuations like shops, restaurants, can gain more by saving power.

5. Working of air conditioner, refrigerators, depends on atmospheric temperature. Atmosphere also affects the amount of power saved. 6. Electricity meter also affects the working of power savers. We can only save power wen we have inductive loads. Resistive loads donot contribute to power saving. Power savers are not necessarily tested and certified. How to chose a power saver?? FIGURE OUT WHTHER U HAVE RESISTIVE OR INDUCTIVE LOADS. If u have a 15kw of inductive load u ca use a 15 kw power saver. Using a power saver of more than 15 kw doesnot provide additional benefit. Plug in the power saver to the sockt closest to the mains circuit breaker. Life of powe saver depend son the PFC capacitor. Generally it is 6 to years. Power savers improve the heating loss of the appliances and lengthen their life span.
