On Saturday, May 14, five mothers took to the field at Clipper Magazine Stadium with their children. They waited near the pitchers mound for the announcement. The Barnstormers were about to name the winner of the second annual My Mom is the Greatest contest. In the weeks prior to that Saturday evening, a panel of judges reviewed a deluge of nomination forms to narrow the pool of mom hopefuls down to five finalists. The criteria included how each mother helps others, how she keeps her family healthy, how she shows that she loves her children and why she is the greatest. In search of Lancaster Countys greatest mom, the Barnstormers posted excerpts from the finalists nomination forms on the team website and opened an online ballot to the public.
