    ABOUT THE AUTHOR


    Andy Smidt qualified as a speech pathologist in the UK in 1988. Andy has worked with children and adults with disabilities in Sydney in a range of public and private settings. Andy was awarded her PhD in 2006. Her doctoral research involved working with staff supporting adults with severe intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviours and involved the earlier version of MOSAIC. Andy currently lectures speech pathology students at Macquarie University and supervises clinical placements for students. She continues to work with a range of clients with complex communication needs and lifelong disability in a private practice.
