rested late Friday after a police motorcycle officer smelled marijuana smoke wafting from a black Cadillac Escalade driven by her boyfriend on the Las Vegas Strip, then found cocaine in her purse, authorities said. A crowd quickly gathered when Hilton and Las Vegas nightclub mogul Cy Waits were stopped about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the car near the Wynn Las Vegas resort on Las Vegas Blvd., police said. The 29-year-old celebrity socialite asked to go into the hotel for privacy as onlookers gathered, said Officer Marcus Martin. Police later found a substance in Hiltons purse that tests showed to be cocaine, Martin said. He said it was a small amount, usually associated with personal use.

Hilton was arrested on suspicion of felony cocaine possession. Waits, 34, was arrested on misdemeanour suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Both were booked into the Clark County jail. Hilton was released without bail about 2:45 a.m. Saturday. Sgt. John Sheahan said release without bail was common in such cases. Less than an hour later, Hiltons Twitter account was updated with a posting that said the actress was in bed watching the television show Family Guy, and then that she was going to sleep. It was unclear if the tweets came from her or were posted by time-release. If convicted of the low-grade felo-

ny, Hilton would get probation. Hiltons lawyer, David Chesnoff, said Saturday morning that he was still gathering facts about the arrest. This matter will be dealt with in the courts, not in the media, and I encourage people not to rush to judgment until all of the facts have been dealt with in a court of law, Chesnoff said later in a statement. There will be no interviews and no more comments at this time. Waits lawyer, Richard Schonfeld, said his client posted $2,000 bail and was expected to be released Saturday. Court appearance dates for the two were not immediately available. Schonfeld said he was troubled by the circumstances leading to the arrest, but declined to specify his concerns. As the case proceeds, a lot of facts are going to come to light that will ultimately lead to exoneration, he said. A spokeswoman for Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment. Waitss clubs are associ-

ated with the Wynn empire. Earlier this week, Hilton was in the news when a 31-year-old man allegedly tried to break into her Los Angeles home. Authorities have said someone carrying two big knives banged on Hiltons window Tuesday. A suspect faces a felony burglary charge. Hilton was arrested this summer after a World Cup match in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on suspicion of possession of marijuana. The case was dropped at a midnight court hearing. In 2007 Hilton pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving and was sentenced to 45 days in jail. After spending about 23 days in jail, Hilton told CNN host Larry King that the experience caused her to re-evaluate the role partying played in her life.

Jacob was 19 when she had her topless day in Guelph. She and a female friend were walking through campus on a blistering July day in 1991 when they saw shirtless male students playing sports. Jacob and her friend, who were fully clothed, mused about the inequality of the situation. Jacob decided to do something about it. She was later arrested and charged with committing an indecent act. For years after, Jacob told the Star Saturday, she was known as that woman from Guelph who took her shirt off. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, she said. I was young and it completely took over my life. The day the ruling was overturned, Jacobs 5-month-old daughter was in court with her. Corrina Jacob-Groves, now 15, wanted to go to the festival but couldnt get the day off work. She said she thinks what her mom did is awesome. Now I understand. I hope that one day I can fight for something that I believe in like she did. Her mother, who has avoided the limelight since the court battle, didnt attend Saturdays event. She said she became jaded after seeing how the media covered her story. She said the focus was on the sexual aspect the T and A instead of the human rights issue at stake. She worried that would become focus of the Guelph event. It truly is a liberating experience, she said. When I took off my shirt I actually took off the defini-

tion of who I was supposed to be. I hope the environment is conducive to that. It didnt start out that way. About 50 observers mostly male sat in St. Georges Square in downtown Guelph waiting for the event to begin. Crinklaw and Webb were among the first to peel off their tops in what started out as a

painfully shy event. Only a handful of women took their shirts off in the first hour. The people with cameras and dark glasses may have had something to do with it. If you are here just to see boobs and be creepy, we encourage you to move on, Webb told the crowd. We want to have a safe space here

for women to exercise their right to be top free, Crinklaw said. Women, we want you to be empowered. Men, we want you to be supportive. Cheers, applause and a few catcalls followed. Carolyn Munroe, 56, and Tina Frieson, 42, came planning to bare their chests. Were hoping to do it, and our husbands are hoping that we do it, but I just feel that were a little bit on display right now, Munroe said. Live music and professional body painters helped to ease the crowd out of its initial awkwardness. By late afternoon a few dozen men and women were dancing, laughing and mingling shirtless and smiling. Most of the gawkers disappeared. In the end, Munroe and Frieson went for it. Phil Longstaff, 50, sat shirtless in the square, his chest painted with bright balloons. We got over ankles, he said. Why cant we get over breasts?
