Guidelines for an effective public speaking

Public speaking is an activity that involves mental and physical performance skills that are different from our social conversational skills .

It introduces the General direction of the speech As the audience are now focused on the speaker ,it is the best time to direct their attention to the general area of talk

Thesis sentence
It introduces theThe central viewpoint about the topic This will help the speaker to share his/her real feeling about the topic so the audience will be able to follow speaker s reasoning with clarity and comfort.

Background
This section answers one of the three questions1) Why speaker is talking about the topic? (personal approach) 2) Why is speaker s group interested in the topic ?(group approach) 3) Why is the topic in itself interesting ? (historical approach)

Point section
The points may vary from one to many depending on the time allotted. At this time speaker develops step by step procedure of their talk & audience are really ready to give their full attention , so speaker can introduce more complex points & ideas.

conclusion
This is the last section of talk. Speaker should leave the dice after summing up the main points of talk or by using one of the other devices for saying goodbye to the audience with dignity.
