Hughesville Borough Council Minutes

Council members and staff present Jeffery Berger, Andrew Mook, Curtis Michael, Jillian Perry, James Savage, Richard Smith (7:15), Mayor Walter Reed, Ryan Tira, Dale Cahn, Dolores Moyer and Chief Gill The regular meeting of the Hughesville Borough Council was called to order by Council President Jeffery Berger followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Guests and Visitors: Mark Maroney & Alyssa Murphy both of the Sun-Gazette Approve Agenda: June 13, 2011 Mook moved, seconded by Savage. Motion passed. Approve Minutes: May 9, 2011 Change relating to the part-time officer hired to fill Monday time slot; he might work other times as needed. Michael moved, seconded by Mook. Motion passed. Police Report: Gill said the bike raffle was held on Saturday at the Firemans Carnival for the kids bikes mentioned at the previous meeting. The winners are a 3, 5 and 9 year old. He would like to resume discussions regarding building renovations. Mayors Report: Reed said Firemans Carnival had a nice turnout and that the volunteers worked very hard. Public Works Report: Cahn said crosswalks will be painted in time for the fair. Council said they wanted No Parking signs posted the same as last years. Street work will begin sometime in July. Zoning Report: Code Inspections Inc. There is a need for coordination between Codes and the police department in filing citations at the magistrates office. East Lycoming Recreation Authority: Request copy of minutes Hughesville-Wolf Authority: Request copy of minutes General Fund - Check# 7068-7101 $30,397.51 Payroll - Direct Deposit $29,056.93 ACH Debits $20,198.68 Michael moved, seconded by Smith. Motion passed. A check to Hughesville Volunteer Fire Co. was added for $10,000

Treasurers Report:

Borough Secretary: Moyer received copies of 2008-2010 State Pension Audit for Uniform and Non-uniform Plans. Code Inspection fees for codes violations are not being paid; can the property owner be cited? The solicitor will determine at the July 11th meeting. Business: y Award bids from May COG Meeting. Have not received copy of the awards. y Assign a delegate of authority for Gannon Associates. Tabled. y Resolution 2011-02 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update. Perry moved, seconded by Michael. Motion passed. y 2010 Census figures; Borough has a 4.1% decrease from 2000. y Thank-you card from Hoffman family (Bereavement) y Leece Electric quoted $3,850 for 2 - 100 amp underground services for the Memorial Park. Mook moved, seconded by Michael. Motion passed. y Approved fireworks permit for July 14th on the condition that they start no later than 10:00 PM. The same applies to a rain date. Mook moved, seconded by Perry. Motion passed. Closed session called to discuss personnel: 8:15 PM Mook moved, seconded by Smith. Adjournment immediately followed.
