    The only tools you will need are a thonging needle and scissors or a knife to cut the lace when you have finished, plus a hole punch of the right diameter to make the holes. When estimating the length of thong for this type of braid, you should measure off at least seven times the length of the area to be covered. It depends on how wide and thick the thong is. The wider or thicker, the more you will need.
