he Italian Peninsula from the Balkan peninsula, and the system of the Apennine Mountains from that of the Dinaric Alps and adjacent ranges. The Adriatic Sea is a part of the Mediterranean Sea. The western coast is Italian, while the eastern coast runs mostly along Croatia and Albania but lesser parts belong to Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

BLACK SEA The Black Sea is an inland sea between southeastern Europe and the Anatolian peninsula (Turkey) and is ultimately connected to the Atlantic Ocean via the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas and various straits. The Black Sea has an area of 436,400 km (168,495 sq mi), and a maximum depth of 2,200 m (7,200 ft).

BALTIC SEA An enclosed sea located in northern Europe. It extends east to longitude 30 east and north to about latitude 66 north. The Baltic covers an area of 422,000 sq km (163,000 sq mi).

It is bounded by Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, and Germany. It is connected with the North Sea by a series of winding channels: the resund, Great Belt, Littlebelt, Kattegat, and Skagerrak.

AEGEAN SEA The Aegean Sea is elongate embayment (arm) of the Mediterranean Sea located between the southern Balkan and Anatolian peninsulas, i.e., between the mainland's of Greece and Turkey (Asia Minor) respectively.

In the north, it is connected to the Marmara Sea and Black Sea by the Dardanelles and Bosporus
