    1) Petroleum is a liquid mixture of hydrocarbons found underground, while natural gas is a gas mixture found underground or associated with petroleum that consists primarily of methane. 2) The compounds rank in order of increasing oxidation level are: propane, propene, propan-2-ol, acetone. 3) Octane and decane will have a higher boiling point than CH3CH2CH3 and CH3CHOH, and CH3CH2CH(CH3)2 will have a higher boiling point than (CH3)4C due to differences in molecular weight and intermolecular forces between the compounds.
