STATE OF NEW JERSEY

Chris Christie Governor Kim Guadagno Lt. Governor Raymond P. Martinez Chairman and Chief Administrator

Letter to the Editor

July 12, 2011

We Heard You and Monday is Back Dear Editor: Over the last several months, weve listened to customers about their service expectations at motor vehicle agencies. From the valuable feedback we received, the most frequent comments involved the issues of convenience and efficiency. We are, after all, the public face of state government; one of a few state agencies that nearly all New Jerseyans come in contact with during their lifetime. This is why it is important for the MVC to continually monitor service levels and operations even during these times of extremely tight budgets to ensure that customers are receiving the efficient and effective service that they have come to expect. After careful planning, the MVC has restructured service hours at all 39 motor vehicle agencies to better reflect the needs of customers. With nearly 10 additional hours per week, the MVC has now reopened on Monday, maintained evening service one night per week and kept the popular Saturday service hours that we recently expanded intact. Official hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The MVC also continues to offer a number of services available 24-7 via its website njmvc.gov, including vehicle registration renewal, driver test scheduling and suspension-related payments. The hours change is just the latest in a long line of ongoing improvements aimed at service, security and safety. From the new, security-enhanced digital driver license unveiled in May to modernized facilities built on state-owned land to plans for a new central issuance system for driver licenses, the MVC continues to make positive strides for its customers the nearly 6 million licensed drivers of New Jersey. On behalf of all MVC employees, we look forward to serving you. Raymond P. Martinez, Chairman New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission
