1. List 6 quadrilaterals. For each quadrilateral you draw, explain their properties. Trapezoid: At least two parallel sides Kite: At least two congruent (equal) sides that are adjacent (next to) to each other. Parallelogram: Four parallel lines. Rhombus: Two pairs of parallel lines and four congruent (equal) sides. Rectangle: Two pairs of parallel sides and four congruent (equal) angles. Square: Four parallel sides, four equal angles, and four equal sides.

Instructions: Observe the room quietly and write down the quadrilaterals that you see in the room. Provide a sketch of your quadrilaterals and write the definition of that polygon! Please use the space below. Student answers may vary -

2. List 6 polygons that are not quadrilaterals and explain why it is NOT a quadrilateral. Circles, Isosceles Triangle, Equilateral Triangle, Pentagon, Hexagon, and heptagon. They are not four sided polygons.

3. What are the similarities and differences between a trapezoid and a square? Similarities: They both have four sides, they both have at least two equal opposite sides. Differences: A square has four congruent angles; a square has four equal sides.
