    SETTLEMENTS _ PLURALISM

    The settlement fabric has a unique landscape of bewildering pluralism. A constant negotiation of static/ kinetic entities, permanence/ temporality, individuality/ commonality and amalgamation/separation of units' forms a loose network which is further woven by the social, cultural, religious, economical, communality and traditions paradigms. While penetrating through the interstitial spaces of this densely woven network one is stroked by a powerful expression due to interplay of light and shade, mass and void, glimpses of interior reflected on the external skin or vice versa, colour, texture, workmanship, etc. It allows temporal progression along with gradual exploration changing the perception of that space and surroundings. A narrative is evolved portraying the overlapping layers of time and traditions. The dense webbed network undergoes repetitive interventions but the 'cultural significance' remains. The settlement has made a fabric for the mass and shell for the individual living within it.
