The Mains installed 2150 feet of terraces on their cropland. They also enrolled cropland in the Conservation Reserve Program, and CRP-Riparian Buffer program. They follow an approved conservation system which includes seeding the farm down for extended periods of time and they are able to utilize the seeding for pasture and hay. This land use conversion provides valuable water quality benefits. The Mains land is located in the Upper Brush Creek Subwatershed in Wayne County and they were nominated by the Wayne Soil and Water Conservation District.
