Pastors Corner ~
THE MIRACLE OF GIVING
God is extravagant, magnanimous and overflowing with love. He has an unlimited supply of graces and His love never ends. This is called Divine Providence. God is our sure source of the blessings we need. The readings today are proofs to this truth. But even if He can do everything, He chose to make us partners of His work. Though there is an obvious divine intervention and miracle in the gospel today, Jesus used people as instruments to accomplish His works. Five loaves and two fish coming from an unknown donor were able to feed five thousand men, not counting women and children. From what we give Him, God multiplies them in order to feed many. Even in the modern time, miracles can still happen. There are many hungry people around the globe: hungry for food, for justice, for love, for attention, for truth, for many things that make life worth living. Sometimes, we do not have to look up to heaven to find answers to the needs of the world, if only we are sensitive enough to care for other peoples needs. We can help to make this world a better place if we do what God expects from us. It was once said, The world has enough for everyones need, but it does not have enough for everyones greed. Many lessons can be learned from the gospel story: 1. Gods resources are unlimited; 2. God allows us to contribute to his work, even if He is All Powerful; 3. Generosity can do miracles but greed can destroy relationships; 4. We cannot love without giving and it is in giving that we receive much more than what we give, for He who gives us back is truly rich and magnanimous.

Volunteers Needed
Interested in volunteering to help in the Religious Education program? The only qualifications needed are to have a love for Jesus and his children. The rest will take care of itself. Please think and pray about this. WE NEED YOUR GIFTS! Call Robin for more information at (858) 277-3861 or (619) 922-7941, or email her at robin.keator@yahoo.com.

St. Columba School

ITS NOT TOO LATE to enroll your child in St. Columba Catholic School for the 2011-12 school year. St. Columba offers one of the lowest tuitions in the diocese due to our wonderful parent community and the support of our parish. Many parents have asked about our standardized test scores; although it is a policy of the diocese not to publish scores, we are very pleased to report that for all grades tested, our class scores are well above the average. Call or come in and find out how your child can benefit from an education that promises to teach heart, mind and soul.
