Basic Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients: Approximately 7 to 8 medium size russet potatoes (cut into quarters) 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup butter Salt and pepper to taste Directions: Place potatoes and enough water to cover in large pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook for approximately 15 to 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Drain potatoes well. Place potatoes back in pot and add milk, butter, salt and pepper. Mash using hand-held masher until smooth. You can also use a hand-held electric mixer for creamier potatoes.
Steak Continental
Ingredients 2 pounds round steak 1 clove garlic, quartered 2 teaspoons salt 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano Directions
1. Remove fat from steak and score both sides by cutting 1/4 inch deep diagonal slices forming a diamond pattern. 2. Mash garlic with salt. Add soy sauce, tomato paste, oil, pepper and oregano. Mix well and rub into steak. 3. Wrap in waxed paper and let stand in refrigerator 5 to 6 hours, or overnight. 4. Broil or barbecue to desired degree of doneness.
