Tuesdays with Morrie Word Processing Software (Word, Pages, GoogleDocs) Paper Colored Pencils Wordle

Procedures
1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Start with a small reading from Tuesdays with Morrie out loud and have it transcribed into Wordle When the Wordle calculates we will look at the visual representation of the words and discuss which words were most prominent and why We will then go through the fonts and themes in Wordle to see if there is one that is more appropriate for the mood of the passage I will give a brief explanation of Design Writing and show some examples of colorful and design oriented documents Students will then close their eyes, as I read a passage from the nal chapter of Tuesdays with Morrie. Then they will draw on paper with Colored Pencils what their minds eye sees (obviously stick gures are okay) as concrete or abstract as they would like to be. I want them to capture the mood/feeling of the paper with color and design, to the best of their ability Students will choose one of Morries aphorisms, or a piece of a conversation between Morrie and Mitch that especially struck them and then re-write that piece using Design Writing principles and word processing software (using color and font, and word art if necessary)
