The use of mathematics (Linear Algebra and Matrices) to describe and analyze decision problems involving the allocation of resources, making decisions in a competitive environment and knowledge of suitable software packages like Excel or TORA is essential. Course Overview: The objective of this course is to give each student the capability to construct mathematical models of real world physical systems and then to use those models to assist in scientific decision-making associated with such systems. Further this course teaches models in operations research including linear programs, the simplex- method, duality theory, sensitivity analysis, network flows and game theory. The emphasis is in learning to recognize, formulate, solve, and analyze practical industrial problems. Course Learning Objectives-CLO i. Formulate & Solve real time Linear Programming problems using Simplex algorithm manually and as well using software ( a,c,e,h,k) ii. Describe the logic underlying the steps in the simplex- method (a,g,i)

iii. Formulate & Solve dual problem and describe its economic interpretation ( a,c,g,i) iv. Perform sensitivity analysis under different values of dependent and independent variables (a,c,f,g,h,i) v. Apply transportation and assignment algorithm to engineering problems and solve manually and as well as solve using software ( a,c,h,i,k) vi. Identify critical path & Time schedule of a project using CPM & PERT techniques for engineering projects ( a,d,e,k) vii. Solve pure & mixed strategy games using principles of Zero sum, two-person games (a.e)
