41; 19 December 1949 26 January 1966 Employment Barrister Information Robert was born in rural Victoria. He has a sister and 3 brothers. He went to primary school in Ballarat and went to Wesley College in Melbourne. After that he went on to get a graduate in law at the University of Melbourne. In 1918 he became a fully pledged barrister. 1928 was the year that he entered the Victorian parliament. In 1935 he entered federal parliament. He turned PM because of Joseph Lyons death in office. As there was no deputy leader at the time they elected Robert Menzies as prime minister. At this time he was criticized a lot. He was criticized of trying to kill Joseph Lyons to get the position of PM. Although that was not true he kept on listening. Finally, on the 26th of April, he got named PM. In total he has been the longest serving PM in Australia. His years in office total as 18 years. In 1920 he got married to Pattie Leckie. Together they had 3 children. Their names are Kenneth, Ian and Heather. He lived for 84 years and died in 1978.
