Galileo School of Math and Science 8th Grade Nonfiction Book Project

You choose: Slide Show, Poster, or Cube You include: Six of the following ways to report on your book
Idea #1: A picture is worth a thousand words Idea #2: In other words... Write a brief summary of important events or ideas in the book. Idea #3: Lets table the matter Create a table that captures information you researched. Idea #4: Something to talk about Write eight great questions to ask an expert about your topic. Idea #5: Sound byte Copy your favorite quote from the book and discuss why it is important. Idea #6: Organized rhyme Write a song or poem expressing key points about your topic. Idea #7: Graph it Find data related to your topic and design your own graph. Idea #8: Grow-cabulary Choose at least ten important words from the book and define them. Idea #9: Noun-sense Show us your grammar skills with a chart of common and proper nouns. Idea #10: Have it your way Propose your own idea for a panel and have your teacher approve it. Depict what you learned from your research using graphics or pictures

You give credit: Be sure to include a bibliography detailing where you found your information
and pictures. Your teacher will tell you if this bibliography is annotated or not.

You present: You will have five minutes of class time to share your project with others. You get credit: This project involves most of the skills required during the expository unit.
Therefore, it will be a significant part of your first quarter grade. Evaluation criteria:
Accuracy of information Completion of six activities Productivity during class time Neatness of final product Clarity of presentation Inclusion of bibliography

9/7-9/12: Select and read nonfiction book 9/13-9/16: Practice research activities in class 9/17-9/26: Work on project at home 9/27-10/1: Present projects during class
