Alexander

Alexander the Great was a king of Macedonia, a state in the region of Greece, which he inherited after his father's death(King Philip) at the age of 20. In 13 years he had conquered the largest part of the world. He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of the most successful commanders of all time. Alexander was taught by the famed philosopher Aristotle. Alexander had founded the city of Alexandria where he made a library that became the largest library of that time. It had a collection of about half a million books. Alexander' father gifted him a horse whom he named Bucephalas, meaning "ox-head". Bucephalas was Alexander's companion throughout his journeys as far as India. When Bucephalas died (due to old age), Alexander named a city after him, Bucephala.
