Roald Dahl
Names of his parents were Mr. Harold and Mrs. Sofie Dahl. Roald Dahl worked for Shell Oil Company in 19331939, later he joined the Royal Air Force as a fighter pilot in 1939.
In 1940, the plane he was flying was hit by enemy fire. Rescued by a fellow pilot, it took Dahl six months to recover from injuries. He rejoined his squadron in 1941 but soon was sent home on the disabled list.
While in England, he was to be interviewed as someone who had seen action during the war. Through a turn of events he wrote the story himself. A Piece of Cakewas published in The Saturday Evening Post and Dahls career as a writer began.
The Gremlins was his first story for children. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was published in 1964. It became as one of the most beloved children's stories of the 20th century.
The novel was adapted for a movie two times by the names of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in 1971, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005.
