(No refunds available after Sept 30th) Art of Spiritual Midwifery to the Dying These classes are designed to teach the spiritual understanding and skills for helping loved ones, friends, community members, and clients through the processes of dying. Spiritual Care to the Dying This two-day course teaches a spiritual view of the dying process and explores practical and accessible ways to provide spiritual care to the dying. Students will learn about the spiritual needs we experience at the end of life, and ways to greet these needs. This course is a recommended prerequisite to all other courses. Day 1 Compassionate Service to the Dying.! We will examine the spiritual path, what spiritual care means, what spiritual midwifery means, and how to work with people from different backgrounds, respecting their cultural-religious practices. We will also explore the spiritual journey of dying. We will examine the process of death, and identify the relationship between the spiritual journey and the dying process. We will identify the spiritual needs of the dying. Day 2 Contemplative Spiritual Practices for the Dying. We will learn tools for providing spiritual presence to the dying and listen to anecdotal stories demonstrating the clinical efficacy of these tools. Students will have an opportunity to explore their experience with dying.! Workshop leader, Connee L. Pike, M.S., has worked in the field of death, dying and grief for over twenty years. She ! holds a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She worked as a chaplain and then spiritual care manager for Napa Valley Hospice. She is the founder of The Mandorla Project, and maintains a private practice teaching classes and private students, who wish to further their studies of consciousness and spiritual midwifery to the dying.
