SERIOUS INJURY CRASH

UPDATE MOTORCYCLIST
The motorcyclist involved in the crash on US 131 near Leonard St NW on Friday, August 5th in the afternoon has now been identified as DONALD LAVERN MATHEWS, a 58 year old male from Fruitport, MI. The motorcyclist had been traveling north on US 131 and struck the back of a car which had come to a stop due to heavy traffic. Mr Mathews was brought to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in serious condition. While at the hospital Mr. Mathews died as a result of his injuries. Speed and alcohol are not factors in this investigation. This crash remains under investigation by the Special Services Unit.
