Vacancy Announcement United States Peace Corps in Belize

Position Title: Program Manager, Health Position Summary: The incumbent serves as a highly qualified professional who is directly responsible for the Health Project. In coordination with the PC Belize Management Team, the Program Manager oversees the direction of the projects, develops work sites with Belizean counterparts, participates in the training of Volunteers, provides direct support and guidance to 25-30 Volunteers, collaborates with Volunteers Belizean counterparts in the field, and manages all related documentation. The Program Manager directly supervises a Programming and Training Specialist and is part of a larger and complex Peace Corps post of 100 Volunteers and Trainees. Qualifications: Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Health Education, Health Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or related field. Masters Degree in Public Health or related degree desirable. Experience In community development work, working in multicultural environment, managing cross-cultural situations and in project training, design, delivery and management. Prior experience in organizing and facilitating health workshops preferred and At least two to three years of HIV/AIDS education and prevention and healthy family and community-based programming. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes: Ability to facilitate technical training sessions completely in English, knowledge of adult education, gender analysis, and community analysis. English oral and written fluency required. Good listening and counseling skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with community members and agency representatives in villages, district towns, and Belize City. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, supervise, and support volunteers or staff in a team environment. Project design, development, management and monitoring and evaluation desired. Project and program coordination with Belizean government agencies and NGO desired. Must be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office software. Must hold a valid drivers license, be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle and be ready to drive throughout Belize on dirt roads in remote areas. Position requires approximately 30% travel outside of Belmopan. Must have strong organizational and administrative skills. Must have positive attitude and commit to a high standard of ethical conduct. Desired but not required qualifications: Knowledge of Peace Corps mission, goals, and work. Familiarity with Belizean culture, communities, and geography. Language proficiency in Spanish, Kekchi, Garifuna, Creole, or Mopan desirable. Position Salary: Salary negotiable based on previous experience and qualifications. Position Duration: Year-to-year renewable contract with satisfactory performance.
