Mary Grace C. Raborar ETEEAP - BSECE

History
It is the first Filipino space satellite. Agila 2 (also known as Mabuhay 1), named after the critically endangered Philippine eagle, is a communications satellite launched in 1997. It provides telecommunications services for the Mabuhay Philippines Satellite Corporation. Built by Space Systems/Loral, the satellite provides the most powerful coverage in the Asia-Pacific region. Its control station is located at the MPSC Space Center in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The spacecraft was launched by the Long March 3B in its first successful flight and currently orbits at 146E longitude.

Specification
Nation: Philippines Type / Application: Communication Operator: Mabuhay Launch Date: August 19, 1997 Launch Vehicle: Long March 3B (Chinese Orbital Carrier) Contractors: Space Systems Loral (SSL) Equipment: 30 C-band transponders, 24 Ku-band transponders Configuration: LS-1300 Propulsion: R-4D-11 Lifetime: 12 years Mass: 3775 kg (launch); 1800 kg (dry) Orbit: Geostationary orbit 146E
