In performance testing of water wheel we divide the blade according to drowning ratio into the running water flow from 25% to 150%. At the slope of the drop structure we define the center point along the longitudinal slope which is assumed as testing points. We drowned water wheel into water and observed the rotating speed (rpm) by using digital tachometer. We plot a graph by using MATLAB software to find out the optimum performance point in drowning ratios.

We assumed that at the 100% of drowning ratio wheel gives the optimum rpm. At 100% drown ratio we shift the blade from up to down side in the interval of 25% length along the slope and observed the rotational speed (rpm) by using tachometer and plot the graph by using MATLAB software Table 2: rotational speed and braking load related to slope length Slope length 25% 50% 75% 80% 85% 90% 95% 100% Rotational speed(rpm) 118 148 152 141 125 93 89 87 Braking load

Graph-2: rotating speed of water wheel in slope longitudinal ratio

In the length wise testing we find out that around 65% length ratio gives the optimum rotating speed (rpm) for our water wheel. Final result in this testing is fully drowned blade water wheel in the 65% slope length gives the optimum rotational speed around 155 rpm. So we took this point as an optimized test point (OTP) for our project.

At the break load testing we tried to convert the rotating wheel speed multiply by 8.58 times of the wheel rotating speed to check the possibility to drive a centrifugal pump. Here we used 4 numbers of sprocket wheels two them are 41 teeth and another two are 14 teeth. We arranged the sprocket ratio to come as 8.58 and increase the rotating speed to1302 rpm. Due to high rotating speed system leaded to vibrate and we unfortunately couldnt do that break load test.
