Experimental 3G launching soon

Nazib Neaz Government owned Telecom Company, Teletalk is going to launch 3G technology this year for the first time in the country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the entire official concerned to take necessary steps to start the service soon.

PM urges BTRC and Telecom minister, Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju to finish the procedure of the allocation of 3G waves, Bd news informed. Abu Saeed Khan, Secretary General of Association of Mobile Telephone Operators in Bangladesh (AMTOB) said, Its normal to allocate 3G wave by auction. Its not unexpected. we expected to finish the process neutrally, he added. Watching TV on mobile phone, getting directions through GPRS, video conferencing with high speed internet use will be possible because of containing high speed data by 3G technology. After the meeting, in a press conference, Telecom minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju Said Any local or foreign company can take part in the auction. He also said, If every thing goes on the right way, Teletalk will launch experimental 3G service by this year. As a govt. company, Teletalk will get the privilege. This company will be allowed to provide this service commercially for 6 months. Secretary to the post and telecom ministry informs about finalizing the policy related to 3G. License fees of mobile operators, license renewal fees and VOIP issues were also discussed in the meeting. Finance Minister A M A Muhit, LGED minister Syed Ashraful Islam, Telecommunication minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, Advisor to the PM Gowher Rizvi, Moshiur Rahman, State Minister of Science, Information and Communication ,Eafes Osman were also present among others in the two and half hour long meeting.
