Purpose
To create a simple emergency light It will automatically turn on when the lights go out and turn off when it senses light

Apparatus
Vero Board LDR BC508 transistor D400 transistor LEDs IC 7808 Connecting wires Variable resistance (10k) Fixed resistances (1k) Fixed resistance (10k) Diodes 6V Rechargeable Battery Switch Transformer Rectifier

Capacitor 470 uF

Circuit Diagram

Procedure

Solder two terminals on Vero board, one for positive and one for negative (ground). Start from one side and put each component in the Vero Board and solder it At a time just take one component and make sure that yOu check all of its terminals and then solder it Once done , then move to next component and so on until you complete all the circuit Make sure that yOu check the base and collector terminals of transistors and then connect them Now connect the 6V battery and the LEDs shouldnt light up ( if they do then there is a problem in circuit and check whether any point is short or not , check that transistor is working all right or not or is the battery fully charged or are the LEDs connected correctly) . Now when the problem is resolved then move your hand over the LDR and now the LEDs should light up

Notes

Both transistors are connected in the circuit in Common emitter Configuration The positive terminal of rectifier is connected to the positive terminal and negative is grounded The two terminals of Transformer are connected to AC supply of 220V and other two to the rectifier The function of IC is to maintain a constant DC voltage of 8V regardless of whatever the input is The diodes prevent the backward or reverse flow of current from the 6V battery LDR is Light Dependent Resistor and it switches the LEDs on or off after sensing light The variable resistor is used to regulate the brightness of the LED panel We used the Step-down transformer to get 9V AC out of 220V AC Rectifier converted this AC into DC signal

Capacitor removed ripples from this rectified signal Switch is used tO manually turn-off the Automatic Switching of light by disconnecting the battery
