    START Treaty

    Now I would like to read you a description of the New START Treaty, known as the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, between the United States and Russia, which was fully ratified in February 2011. As a term of the treaty, Russia will maintain a fixed 10:1 advantage over the United States in numbers of tactical nuclear weapons, which individually have at least six times the destructive power of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in World War II. Also, without Russia s permission, the United States will not be able to increase and will be limited in its ability to improve its missile defense capacity. After reading this description of the New START Treaty, do you think this weakens the national defense of the United States?
