The Native Americans are presented down in South America at a place called Regio De Brasil in which they are

holding onto it looks like a bow and arrow, a type of axe. They also look to be wearing the typical feather head wear and a few of them look to possibly be huddling on the ground by a fire, but it is not complet ely clear what they are doing.I also was reading that the native Americans are d epicted as giants and cannibal eaters. Well where the maps have the Native Amer icans located is actually quite interesting considering the fact that I read tha t they came from the Bering Strait in Asia to Alaska. So it is strange to see th em all the way down in South America. What I think is very possible about this s trengthening the Europeans claims to sovereignty are this. That is showing where they believe the Native Americans will be forced to when they come over to Amer ica and they are showing their pre defeat of the Native Americans by putting the m down there. They possibly believed that the sovereignty of God will give them the land and it will be theirs. That the Native Americans will be running away from them when they come. But, to tell you the truth I really do not know for su re, but it is a possibility of what they thought would happen in the future afte r coming over to America. Actually the French and Spain s coat of arms represents th e sovereignty of both countries over all the continents. Also it represents the peace treaty both made in 1559. Both countries are showing their confidence of t aking over the world and defeating any enemies that they come across. They have a belief of prior confidence of succeeding over what they plan on doing. Also t he Portuguese coat of arms is representing their dominance over the southern A mericas. To sum everything up quickly the Gutierrez Map is a map that shows ever ything that people can expect while traveling to the Americas with great beasts, great whales in the water and dragons in the water, you see many different sea creatures, they show what people are to expect about the ownership of the lands and what is in those lands. They also possibly did many of the drawings to make some more fearful to pass through the lands, mostly non Spanish people.
