The Descent

As I was watched you take me to that heightened state There were glimpses of the bruises and scars you could not hide From the surface of your eyes, they pierced me slowly and became screams and cries of a distant help The descent was calm, yet disturbing for it left me helpless with ripples of guilt To find something I could never embrace To love someone who would never arrive Sometimes the dream is blind And our hope stifles the goodbye The descent is sad, yet lifting for it leaves me stronger with ripples of pride I will find someone I can yearn to embrace I will love someone knowing it has arrived It won t be a dream that leaves me blind And my hope will never say goodbye
