Call attention to the front of the class. Explain to students that after reviewing their authors purpose assessment, it seems that many of them are still having difficulty identifying the authors purpose. Tell students that we are going to review authors purpose today a little differently than the way it was originally taught. Tell students that we will review as a class and then we will play a game called quiz, quiz, trade. Explain the game: I will pass out a card to each student. Each student will read the front of their card, guess the answer, then check the back for the correct answer. Next: students will turn to their shoulder partner and quiz each other. When finished, hand up, pair up and quiz again. After a few minutes, have students pass their quiz cards around until I say stop. Then shoulder partner, quiz and hand up, pair up, quiz again. Lesson Development Review examples using familiar text with the class. Quiz, quiz, trade for review. Closure After about 10 minutes, call students back to carpet. Ask several students to read their cards and give the answers. Ask if they have any questions.
