Cebu City It is indeed noteworthy that the Childrens Legal Bureau (CLB) has again spearheaded another laudable move in preventing the abuse and exploitation of innocent children through the Child Protect Movement. The launching of this child protection program is timely and appropriate, as it comes amidst the reported rising incidence of child abuse and exploitation cases in Cebu. Unfortunately, the City of Naga has not been spared of unscrupulous individuals who have this nasty habit of abusing unsuspecting minors. Thanks to the local police and social welfare officers that their combined efforts resulted in the rescue of young victims and arrest of their perpetrators, including a foreign national, last month. I, therefore, believe that the establishment of the Child Protect Movement will definitely strengthen the City of Nagas programs in giving assistance to abused and exploited children. On behalf of the good people of the City of Naga, I am extending my full commitment and support for the CLBs Child Protect Movement. We are one in empowering both the authorities and local residents in the fight against child-abusers.
