Vocabulary for the End-of-Term Exam 1. Request : ask somebody for something. 2. Standby: somebody or something that can always be relied on to be available and useful, especially if needed as a substitute or in an emergency. 3. Nerd: somebody who is considered to be excessively interested in a subject or activity that is regarded as too technical or scientific. 4. Growl: to make a low rumbling noise. 5. Kingdom: a state or people ruled over by a king or queen. 6. Seraph: an angel of the highest rank of nine orders of angels in the traditional Christian hierarchy. 7. Dissever: to separate or sever something. 8. Sepulcher: a vault in which a corpse is buried. 9. Blast: an explosion, or a sudden rush of air caused by an explosion. 10. Trace: an amount of something that is detectable, but too small to be quantified. 11. Typewriter: an electrical or mechanical device with keys that are pressed to print letters or other characters one by one on a sheet of paper inserted into the machine. 12. Blush: to feel embarrassed or ashamed.
