E Youth Development Program Child Protection Policy


Our organization believes that: 1) Every child or young person, defined as any person under the age of 19, who participates in Teen HYPE activities, should be able to do so in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from abuse. This is the responsibility of every adult involved with Teen HYPE Youth Development Program 2) Teen HYPE Youth recognizes its responsibilities to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from bullying or neglect. Teen HYPE is determined to meet its obligation and do so, to the highest possible standard of care. 3) The welfare of the child is paramount. 4) All children, regardless of culture, age, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious and/or sexual identity, have the right to protection from abuse. beliefs

5) All staff (paid/unpaid) working with this organization have a responsibility to report concerns to their supervisor. 6) All suspicions and allegations of physical, verbal or mental abuse, including bullying, will be taken seriously and responded to appropriately and as quickly as possible. The aim of our child protection policy is to promote good practices and to ensure all staff, volunteers and community members engaged in programs and activities with Teen H.Y.P.E. Youth Development Program are aware of our commitment. The following practices are not sanctioned. All staff, volunteers, participants and parents of participating children should understand we do not allow: 1. Engaging in rough physical play that could result in inappropriate physical contact 2. The use of inappropriate language 3. Excessive one-on-one time with any single child or adult 4. Touching children except for emergency situations that require intervention for the welfare of the child 5. Clothing of an extremely provocative nature to be worn by staff, volunteers or participants By signing below, I agree to following these policies and procedures for child care and acknowledge that I will report any concerns immediately as outlined above.
