Incorporating Wikipedia Assignments into Higher Education Classrooms
Monday, October 10, 11:30 a.m. Orozco Room, Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall, 66 West 12th Street, 7th floor
The Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit that supports Wikipedia, partnered with university professors in 45 classes during the 2010-2011 academic year in a pilot program of our Global Education Program. Professors assigned their students to write Wikipedia articles as part of the coursework for the term, with assistance from trained Wikipedia Ambassadors both in the classroom and online. In this workshop, we will present the research work from our surveys and interviews with faculty members, Ambassadors, and students. We will also use activities perfected in Ambassador trainings and other presentations to engage attendees to demonstrate how Wikipedia can be incorporated into a university curriculum. *Additional registration required
