September 2011: News from the Upper Room

Schools back are you?

I am a big fan of summer, but nothing beats the fall! Time to throw on the backpack, ink up your pen, and start making some wrinkles on your brain! Our prayer is that you would work hard, learn the stuff, and glorify God through your effort. Anybody can be a slacker, but it takes hard work and determination to get those good grades! If you ever need assistance, tutoring may be available to you through the Upper Room Ministries (send Joe an email for more info: josephwbeal@gmail.com).

BIG NEWS

Remember that on September 11th, we are starting a new ministry group for our middle school friends. We are calling it The Door (because you have to go through the door to get into the upper th room!). This will be for grades 6-8 , and other than Sunday school (9:30-10:30 a.m.), will meet Thursdays from 6-7:15 p.m. (same time as Club 45, for the 4-5th graders). Invite a friend, and see you there!

Fall Retreat

Please mark your calendars for our fall retreat! Grades 6-12 are invited along with us. The dates: Friday, Sept. 30th Sunday, Oct. 2nd. More info will be handed out in a few weeks.

Joe Beal (thats me) took over the Garden Way Student Ministries in July, as Aaron and Lori Weaver are moving to Macedonia for service with the Peace Core (check in on them through their website: www.anuntroddenpath.com). I am excited to be here with all of you, and look forward to sharing in this Kingdom Life with you. The purpose of our youth ministry is to reveal Gods greatness to the youth of our community, to unify and strengthen each other, to offer ourselves in service, and through these, glorify God.
