    MACS Third Grade Week of August 29th- September 2nd, 2011 Dates to Remember Spelling Words

    Thursday, September 1st


    Title I Meeting- 6:00-6:30 p.m. Open House 6:30-7:30 p.m. Math Students spent the first week of school reviewing a few of the skills/concepts from previous grades. They will complete Chapter 0 on Thursday, and take a test over the material on Friday. once you receive your childs test, please go over the items missed with him/her. Then sign and return the test in your childs homework folder. Thank you!!!! Reading The first couple weeks of school Third Graders are reading Charlottes Web by E.B. White as they are given their beginning of the year assessments. While reading Charlottes Web, the class will explore the theme of friendship, learn some interesting spider facts, develop vocabulary, and identify synonyms and antonyms.

    Writing During the first few weeks of school, emphasis will be placed upon using proper conventions, sentence quality, and paragraph structure. The remainder of the first 9 weeks will focus on expository writing, writing to explain. Check your childs folder weekly, and provide him/her feedback on his progress. Every writer needs an audience!
