Recovery and Sustenance of a disaster hit database

Zero downtime is one of the key principles in network design, in particular when building databases, where key applications and data need to be accessed at any given time. The loss of mission critical systems can result in a significant loss of opportunity and functionality at an urgent time of need. High availability, fast response time, and rapid failover are essential for the efficient working of the planning subsystem of the army. In this presentation, various technologies will be discussed which were analyzed to decide the best one suited to our need, and Oracle DataGuard as the selected technology will be dealt with at the core level. The concepts and terminologies related to it - active dataguard, client failover, database failover and DGMGRL (Data Guard Broker Command Line Interface) will be explained and the procedure to implement them will be presented.
