Be up and doing Do not sit waiting for someone to help you. God helps those who help themselves.

Be cheerful Live only to be a blessing to others. Drive away low feeling by singing, prayer, pranayama, brisk walks in the open

Assume adaptability Adjust yourself to the ways and habits of others. Develop self-restraint and tolerance.

Speak measured words Discipline the organ of speech. Cut short conversations Observe mouna for one hour daily. Talk a little, hear much, and never utter harsh words.

Control anger Anger shatters the nervous system. Anger creates inflammation in the astral body.

Understand the law Every event occurs with a definite cause behind it.

Become one with the law-giver

If you understand the law that guides your life and actions, you will be able to act in such a manner as to make this law your ally. If the conditions laid down by the law are meticulously fulfilled, you can have absolute certainty of success in any direction.

Have fiery determination Master your emotions and impulses. Be firm in your resolve and fiery in your determination.

Never despair Have courage. Be bold. You will succeed. Difficulties help you to develop will and endurance. Draw strength and power from within. You are invincible.

Discriminate Know things in their proper light. Make the mind understand the unreal nature of objects. Learn to differentiate between the right and wrong.

Practise serenity Be calm under all circumstances. Serenity is like a rock. Waves of irritation may dash on it, but cannot affect it. Keep your mental poise without consideration of success or failure, gain or loss, pleasure or pain.

Be open like a child Be absolutely frank and candid like a child. Do not keep any secrets from Him. Talk to Him like a child. Pray sincerely. Become an instrument in the hands of the divine.

Surrender Surrender everything to the Supreme. Place your ego at His feet and be at ease. He will do everything for you. When surrender is absolute, divine grace flows.
