Mission
At the Institute for Livestock and the Environment, our mission is to solve problems at the interface of livestock production and science-based environmental management.

Approach
Institute faculty, staff, and graduate students accomplish our mission through interdisciplinary research, outreach, and education. We work at the local, regional, and global scales. We strive to engage and partner with stakeholders, including producers, regulators, policymakers, and environmental groups in all the work we do.

Objectives
Assess the bio-physical, economic, and social relationships between livestock production and environmental sustainability. Develop and evaluate best management practices and tools to promote economically profitable and environmentally sustainable livestock production. Gather information on public and producer support/feasibility of management practices. Advise producers and inform policy makers.
