Media Release
For Immediate Release September 11, 2011

Dr. Catherine Whiting took the opportunity today to pay tribute to the men and women of Nipissing who risk their lives every day to keep us all safe and healthy. When I worked as the Medical Officer of Health, I had the pleasure to work with many of these amazing professionals. Our fire fighters, paramedics, police officers and first responders, both paid and volunteer, are owed a debt of gratitude from all of us. Dr. Whiting said. On this, a day we all remember the courage and sacrifice of first responders from all over North America, it is especially timely to take a moment to be thankful for those in our community who work tirelessly with the sole purpose of helping those around them. Premier McGuinty met with first responders today, to remember the victims of 9/11 and those who served. I know I speak for all Ontarians when I say to our first responders: Thank you for all you do day in and day out to care for our communities and protect our families across Ontario, he said. They will say they are doing their duty, but what makes our first responders accept that duty in the first place is love. Love for your fellow man is what makes you put on the uniform. And your duty is what you do, out of love, every day, afterwards. -30-
