Physiology of Respiration: Conclusion The breathing rate and the amount of carbon dioxide exhaled by a person vary in each

activity due to several factors. From the experiment, it can be concluded that the more strenuous activity one performs results in a faster breathing rate as seen by the volunteer who performed 100 jumping jacks having the fastest breathing rate among the three. Moreover, the activity which involves accumulation of carbon dioxide in the body, like holding ones breath, results in a faster rate in color change in the solution because upon resuming breathing, the bodys first priority is to exhale all the excess carbon dioxide in the body. Thus, if there is more metabolic activity done, the breathing rate will be faster resulting in a greater amount of carbon dioxide released. In addition, holding ones breath results in a faster breathing rate than the normal and the greatest amount of carbon dioxide released.
