Water Sources Water, and especially fresh water, is one of the most important natural resources. The tourism industry generally overuses water resources for hotels, swimming pools, golf courses and personal use of water by tourists. This can result a greater volume of waste water. Land Destruction Important land resources include minerals, fossil fuels, fertile soil, forests, wetland and wildlife. Increased construction of tourism and hotels plus resorts has increased the pressure on these resources and on scenic landscapes.

Littering
In mountain areas, trekking

tourists generate a great deal of waste. Tourists on expedition leave behind their garbage, oxygen cylinders and even camping equipment. Such practices destroy the environment with all the rubbish typical of the developed world, in remote areas that have few garbage collection or disposal facilities.

Green Tourism
Often called eco-tourism and sustainable tourism but more accurately described as "any activity or facility operating in an environmentally friendly way". A lodge with composting toilets, gray water system, and solar powered lighting is probably "green". Before you stay in a hotel check if it recycles or practices energy saving methods. Better still, why not camp?
