Principals Message
Dear Parents
Welcome back to all our parents and students for the new academic year. A warm welcome too
to our new parents and students; I hope you become a part of the growing family of Cambridge
parents who are helping us to improve our school every year. Our parents are a vital link in our
students academic success. We trust that you will support their learning at home so that we
can maximize their progress in school.
Ms Margaret Beresford
B.A., Dip. Tchg. M.Ed
The school roll has grown dramatically over the summer months so that we have been forced to close new registrations until
we can obtain teachers to open new classes. While this is a positive indication of the growing popularity of our school, we
understand that it is inconvenient for some parents to wait. We have optimized class sizes as far as possible and we
appreciate your patience.
This year, from Year 1, we have assigned the students to different classes to ensure an even spread of academic ability and
attitude to work across all sections. This is a sound move designed to enhance our students learning. Thank you for your
support.
We have a number of new teachers with us this year. We have ensured they are qualified and the great majority have a wealth
of good experience behind them. This has been obvious already in the way that they have calmly and professionally arrived in
Doha, settled into their new routines and prepared for their classes. I am impressed and I am sure that you will be also. They
share our vision for the school and are eager to contribute to its growing academic strength and reputation in Qatar.
Homework will be uploaded in the parent portal from 18th September. Please encourage your children to complete their
homework and submit it by the due date. Failure to meet these deadlines will result in detention.

Feedback
We ask all parents to bring their students to school in time for registration at 7.15am. We have strict policies regarding
students who are late: detentions and exclusion from school for one day. Additionally, it is essential that all students are
wearing the correct uniform. Detentions for incorrect uniform will begin to be given on Sunday. If a student repeatedly
wears the wrong uniform, we will ask you to collect them and take them home to wear the correct clothing. It is important
that our students present a cohesive and professional image of our school, both during the school day and to the wider
community.
Extra-Curricular Activities are held once a week and are compulsory for all students from Years 3 9. This year the activities
will be an extension of academic skills, as we continue to push for higher achievement with our students. Options will go out
to parents next week and activities will commence from the week beginning 25th September.
Please note the 2pm collection time on these days. Buses will run from 2pm.
Both the Primary and Secondary Libraries received a generous order of new books, supporting our push for students to
explore a wider range of texts and improve their reading skills.
I am looking forward to a positive year in which our students learning takes first place ahead of all other concerns. We hope
that you will join us in this endeavour which will take our school and your children to greater heights of academic success.
Have a great week.
