Abortion Situations

1. Abortion is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United States each year.More than 40% of all women will end a pregnancy by abortion at some time in their reproductive lives. 2. An abortion can result in medical complications later in life; the risk of ectopic pregnancies doubles, and the chance of a miscarriage and pelvic inflammatory disease also increases. 3. Those who choose abortions are often minors or young women with insufficient life experience to understand fully what they are doing. Many have lifelong regrets afterwards. 4. Failed Contraception More than half of all the women who have an abortion are pregnant because of failed contraception. Women in this situation may not be financially, emotionally or physically capable of supporting a child. 5. Teen Pregnancy When it comes to teen pregnancy about 30% of teens who become pregnant choose to have an abortion. Most teens are dealing with an unplanned pregnancy or a situation or failed contraception. 6. Medical Reasons This occurs when routine testing reveals the possibility of birth defects or severe medical problems. In this situation an abortion procedure may be necessary to protect the safety and well-being of the the women who is pregnant. 7. Rape, Incest and Other Crimes Not only would it be emotionally and psychologically difficult to carry a pregnancy of this nature to term, but it many women also worry about the children who result from this situation.

8. Psychological Association found that stress was greatest prior to an abortion, and that there was no evidence of post-abortion syndrome. 9. Relationship that may lead a women to choose an abortion would be domestic violence. A woman who is fleeing violence may not feel she has a safe and stable enough environment to raise a child. 10. The abortion counseling process is aimed primarily at the woman herself but may also include other people she chooses to be involved. Studies indicate that men are involved in more than 40% of the decisions, but only scant research has been performed on male involvement in the process. Some women can reach a decision quickly.
