Dear Mr. Soule:
I have a copy of I think most recent letter to my
brother-in-law, Donald O'Rourke, and with his approval
I am writing to provide you with some additional iF still
incomplete, information about the state of the title to the
O'Rourke camp property in Wayne,
My wife, Margaret, has taken the steps necessary to sever
her joint tenancy. I understand that Donald has done the same
and that Gerald did so before he died. I do not know what, if
anything,my two sisters-in-law have done in this respect.
T enclose a copy of Gerald's will. As you can see, it
feaves the credit-sheltered amount to his wife, Bernadette,
for her life. His 1/5 interest presumably became part of his
estate and is not specifically disposed of or otherwise
referred to in any way, I know nothing about the size or
composition of his estate. He and Bernadette were survived by
Seven children, five being his alone, one being hers alone
and one being theirs jointly. You will note that the will gives
her the power to give her interest in the camp to these childsen,
and Donald Tells me that she is prepared to de so. Your point
is well taken regarding gift taxes. I understand from Donald
that the camp property is assessed for real estate tax purposes
at $170,000,
T might add that Margaret has two children, Donald has
three, Marie Louise has three and Eileen has one. There are sone
grandchildren,
Twill be glad to assist in any way I can in devising a
solution to this problem,
Very truly yours,
“ame fi fionfire
