Narrative Report
I. Description of Narrative report: A. Background: Stool examination is usually done to help identify diseases of the digestive tract, liver, and pancreas. Certain enzymes(such as trypsin or elastase) may be evaluated in the stool to help determine how well the pancreas is functioning.Examination of multiple stool specimens per patient to rule out parasitic infection continues to be recommended in the literature. Attractive alternatives have been proposed, such as examination of a single specimen, but data to support their use have been inconclusive. B. Scope of Work: A group of Microbiology students went to Cotta Shrine to gather stool samples to be tested at the laboratory for presence of parasites alone but is not concerned with the number of the said parasites that is taking residence at the intestines of the children. II. Implementation: A. III. Recommendations: After the examination, the students went back to the family of the children who owns the stool samples to discuss about the results and to give recommendations. The students recommend that the children must be given a deworming agent that could kill intestinal parasites, especially helminths, the students also refer the family to go and consult into the near Rural Health Center.
