MEDIA ADVISORY
LOS ANGELES (September 19, 2011) The City of Los Angeles is advising motorists and pedestrians in the coastal neighborhood of San Pedro of a sinkhole just north of the westbound traffic and bike lanes on Paseo Del Mar approximately 634 feet west of the intersection of Weymouth Avenue and Paseo Del Mar. Until further notice, the City has closed Paseo Del Mar from just west of the intersection of Weymouth and Paseo Del Mar to the entrance to the White Point Nature Preserve. Access to the Nature Preserve will remain open. The City Bureaus of Engineering, Street Services, and Sanitation, the City Department of Transportation, and the County of Los Angeles are monitoring and investigating the situation to determine what is causing the sinkhole and what future actions will be taken.
